All West Japan Intercollegiate Oratorical Contest

Elimination Judge

April, 2017

Dear students,

I send my warmest greetings from me to you for this wonderful occasion. I hope this letter finds you well, and wish you are filled with happiness of going through the beautiful spring season at where you are.

My name is Kanako Onishi, and I have been working with students in Speech Section of ESS club at universities in Japan since 2006. I was a graduate student at Kwansei Gakuin University back in that time. Last year was my 10th year as a judge, and I was working with Kwansei Gakuin University ESS for Churchill Trophy. Churchill Trophy is a speech contest for senior high school students all around Japan.

Speech is always a great way to share your ideas, knowledge, and wisdom to the society. When I was a senior high school student, I made my speech. I shared my ideas and views on how we can solve and overcome difficulties due to the differences in the society. I emphasized the importance of intercultural understanding, communication between people from various backgrounds, and to be the bridge between people from the different countries. I became a champion in Hyogo Prefecture.

In my life, I have been always living my life as an educator, and recently I started lectures at home. I used to teach English at School of Science and Technology at Kwansei Gakuin University’s Kobe-Sanda campus. I had students who majored in physics, chemistry, technology, and so on. And I talked with many students in various club activities. I was very glad to be able to communicate with students who were working on their own studies and activities. It is one of the greatest paths to go through because it will definitely become one of their choices they made in their life and many people in the world are interested in things they have experienced during their school life.

If you are interested in talking to me about your studies or activities at your university, please do not hesitate to contact. For your information, please see my blog.
